Raw Aluminum Die Casting - Straight From The Mold

Here's a little high pressure aluminum die casting with its mold replica from wood. It shows you and your guests/students the most important design details for high pressure die casting: the cookie, the ingates, the overflows, the vents, the ribs, draft angles, flashing, surface details, locator pins, mold wear...everything! (except ejector pins)

Only 10 of these objects are made. Each one is serialized, signed by Aldo and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Notes:
#1: medium amount of flashing. Came out pretty good.
#2: Large amount of flashing! there must have been a bit of dust in between the dies or something. The cookie is pretty long because I put a bit too much metal in.

#4:Medium amount of flashing. I had to cut the cookie because it was too long to fit into the packaging.
#5: no notes, came out very clean, except for my finger print!
#6: Large amount of flashing. Something must've been stuck between the dies.
#7: Came out with almost no flashing and a very clean serface.
#8: Large amount of flashing on the bottom. Perhaps something in between the dies or I didn't clamp the bottom hard enough.
#9: Medium amount of flashing.
#10: Insane amount of flashing. A few minutes after I noticed cracks in the crucible I remembered that there was still enough molten metal in the crucible for another pour, but in my haste I didn't clean the surfaces of the dies and they didn't close well at all. I also poured in way too much metal so I had to cut the cookie on this one to make it fit into the packaging.
